Privacy — Mandala

Mandala watches one thing — whether you are at the keyboard — and it watches it locally, to decide when a break is due. That reading is never recorded, never sent anywhere and never survives the moment it is taken.

There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK in the app. Nothing counts how often you skip, what you name your Mac, or which of the twelve drawings you see most.

This website

The site you are reading is a separate thing from the app, and it does count visitors. It records page views and which download, buy and email links get clicked — self-hosted on our own server, without cookies, and never tied to a person. Each hit also carries the page title, the page you came from, the campaign tag on the link you followed if it had one, your browser, screen size, language, and roughly where you are — the country, and sometimes the region or city. That location is worked out from your IP address, and your IP is also hashed with your browser details into the id that lets two page views count as one visit rather than two. The address itself is not stored: what is kept is the browser, the screen, the language and the place. If your browser is set not to be tracked — Do Not Track, or Global Privacy Control — nothing is recorded at all. Your account pages are not counted, and neither is arriving from one. The app sends none of it, and nothing here is joined to your account.

What leaves it, and when

The network is used for exactly three things, and the app says so on screen when it does any of them: licensing, the update check, and an issue report you send yourself.

Your email address, to sign in and to send your licence key
Your licence key, a device identifier and the Mac's name, when the app checks the licence is still valid — at activation and on a fourteen-day recheck
The same identifier when the app asks whether a newer build exists
Your email address, the same identifier, the Mac's name and your message when you file an issue from the app — plus a slice of the diagnostic log, but only if you tick the box that says so
A CSV file, but only if and when you export one yourself

Your account

An account on mandala.rest holds your email, your trial status and your licence key. It never sees a break, a drawing or a score, because the app never sends one. Ask and it is deleted, licence and all.

Payments

Purchases run through Paddle, who act as merchant of record and handle the card details. We receive an email address and a transaction id; we never see a card.
